My Cobalt is a very well maintained car as long as I have owned it, as far as regular oil changes, tire rotation, etc, It has new Continental tires, a new catalytic converter, new wiper blades, and still gats 30+ miles per gallon. It is a reliable vehicle has lots of trunk space and is safe. - 5.0

I own two of this cars both a 2006 LS manual(my daily) since brand new and put all 100k miles on it and very little issues including the key issue which wasn't really an issue just don't put so much stuff on your key chain. A 2010 SS manual(my fun car i only drive in the dry summer days) for a couple years now and also works flawlessly besides the maintenance. I'm hard when i drive/race my cars but i also take care of them which is the biggest key with almost all cars these days. The 2010 SS is such a blast to drive and will take anything within $20k msrp price differential hands down. great performance price per pound. Super easy to upgrade to make it faster. Gm even has a book/guide (GM Sport Compact Performance Build Book - 3rd Edition) which you can find online for free which will help you guide on building this car to your needs/wants. They logged all the data they learned while racing these chassis when they were building them and made a guide/book out of all that data. Super awesome GM did that if you ask me! With some $$$ you can easily make this car a super car slayer but of course fwd but hey some of the fastest records on some tracks are held by fwd cars. Fwd is a great platform for almost every motor sport besides drag which isn't as easy to put the power down from a dig. Can be done but require more know how and such with suspension geometry & setup to help get that FWD gold. My 2006 LS is my daily which has been and awesome car here in south central Alaska. With a great set of x-ice studless Michelin tires i was able to go anywhere almost any awd/4wd car/truck can go in the winter months. just the slow steep inclines are a little tricky with fwd but on that note because of the fwd highway speeds on the snow/ice is awesome because of the pulling nature of the fwd vs 4wd/awd(which can be front drive axle bias on most awd's) is more forgiving when it starts to slip at those faster speeds. if it was super deep i do have a set of low profile chains which top out at 25mph but is a little billy goat and nothing stops it then with the chains. This car whenever i get the time/$$$ will become my project and the GM Sport Compact Performance Build Book - 3rd Edition will be my bible then for the build. I want to build this for everything this platform can be. This care is super easy, cheap & reliable to work on yourself. I've done all the work on the car myself besides the clutch since i don't have a proper garage with a lift and such to do that job which is a real pain if you don't have those tools. The interior is at the price point but i still don't know why people get so worked up for the plastic dash and such. not like your always touching it or anything. all i care about is if it rattles or such. if it's plastic it's also easier to work with including clean then the soft materials. Sadly enough it's getting harder to find one that has been properly maintained so they might be a little rough. but if i ever sell mine they'll be in good shape.
